THE JÜ BAND

The Jü was born in 2012 in Budapest. The trio’s members kept themselves busy on the Hungarian musical scene in bands like Qualitons, Zuboly, Erik Sumo Band, Dresch Quartet or the Grencsó Kollektíva. The by now trade mark Jü sound is a melting pot of the intensity of rock, the freedom of free jazz, the hypnotic effect of ambient textures, and the crudeness of different kinds of ethnic music. During its 10 years history, the band played at many high-quality jazz clubs and festivals, like the Saalfelden Jazz, the Cairo Jazz Festival, the Nasjonal Jazzscene in Oslo,or the Vortex in London.
The most important recent Jü news is that, after 10 years, Szilveszter Miklós replaced András Halmos as the trio’s drummer. So, energised by the new blood, the band marches on.
